Give a double tap if you ❤️ homemade pasta too!

Feel like your food photos look staged? Here are 3 Feel like your food photos look staged? Here are 3 tips for natural looking shots ✨ 📸 👇🏻

1. Shoot next to a window, or mimic one with artificial light. The overhead lights in your home will almost always cause unwanted shadows and inaccurate color temperatures. Side light and back light work best!

2. Make your scene feel lived-in by adding crumbs, a sprinkling of herbs or spices, or ingredients related to the dish around the frame. Try taking a bite of your hero while you’re at it — the bite shots are always my favorites!

3. Let some elements to extend beyond the frame. Not only does this create natural movement and intrigue, it makes the viewer feel as though they are catching a glimpse of a larger scene and mimics the experience of food in a real-life setting.

PS. If you haven’t had crusty olive oil-drenched bread smothered in hummus and pickled onions, you have not lived yet, friend!

The sun is shining and so are these bright and bol The sun is shining and so are these bright and bold lemon tarts I shot for a personal project recently. 🍋 💛 📸

Hard lighting and larger compositions are definitely a step out of my comfort zone —but it’s a place I’m spending more time these days and has opened up a whole new world of food photography for me. The only way to see what you’re capable of is to get uncomfortable and challenge yourself with the unfamiliar. 💥

I’m sharing this image as part of the @foodartproject monthly challenge with @lenkas_lens @thesouthasiankitchen & @blackvelvetstyling. Todays theme is the color yellow and the emotion it evokes. 💛 ☀️ 🍋 💥
